Short Story Competition:
Students are invited to submit entries for the Whitsunday Voices Short Story Competition. The categories of the Competition and the respective word requirements are outlined below:
- Years 5 and 6: 300 – 500 words – prize $30

Years 7 and 8: 400 – 600 words – prize $50
- Years 9 and 10: 600 – 800 words – prize $70
- Years 11 and 12: 800 –1200 words – prize $100
Entries will be judged by a panel comprising of representatives from Friends of Mackay Libraries Inc., who will be sponsoring the Short Story Competition for 2008. The winners will be announced at the Festival Launch on Wednesday 16th July 2008.
Students are free to respond to the theme or topic of their choice. There is no limit to the number of entries allowed by each student. However, each entry must be:
- Typewritten or word-processed on one side of paper – 1.5 spacing

Entries should include the Title of your story, your name, School and year level and a contact phone number.
Don’t forget to sign it and get your teacher or parent to sign it too!
