A.J. Betts is a Fremantle-based author, speaker and teacher. Her latest work is a two-book speculative fiction series comprising of HIVE and ROGUE. A.J.’s award-winning third novel, ZAC & MIA has recently been adapted to TV and won two Emmys in 2018. Her earlier novels are WAVELENGTH and SHUTTERSPEED. A.J. Betts regularly presents talks for teenagers and adults, and her engaging and humerous style has made her one of the favourites in the Literature Festival Circuit.
 
Books – HIVE and ROGUE comprise a two-book series. HIVE tells the story of Hayley, a 15 year old beekeeper, who discovers more about her world than she was meant to. Set in an underwater society, it’s rich with suspense, mystery and secrets. ROGUE continues the story. Set in a future Australia, it’s action-packed with lots of twists, turns and surprises. HIVE has been shortlisted for the 2019 Gold Inky Awards, the 2019 ABIA awards and the 2019 Indie Book Awards. It was also named a notable book by the CBCA. ZAC & MIA was her third novel for young adults. Although a work of fiction, it was inspired by her experiences of working in a hospital for over 10 years. It’s about life, friendship, change and courage and has been named in the top ten favourite books by Australian Authors and won many awards.
