James Foley is an award winning children’s author, Illustrator and cartoonist. He makes picture books and comics for courageous kids. James’ professional writing career began in 2003 when he illustrated covers for Western Australia’s weekly ‘Quokka’ newspaper. He has worked as a freelancer, creating cartoons and illustrations for clients, and consulted for educational organisations and corporate groups. His favourite part of his job is presenting workshops at schools and libraries as he loves the natural enthusiasm children bring to drawing, especially when they are just doing it for themselves.

His latest books Brobot and Dungzilla feature Sally Tinker, the world’s foremost inventor under the age of 12, and Joe Tinker, her stinky baby brother. James’ earlier books My Dead Bunny, In the Lion, The Last Viking and The Last Viking Returns have all earned several honours, including Children’s Choice awards, Crystal Kite Awards, shortlistings in the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year awards, Young Readers’ Hoffman Award, and selection for the International Youth Library’s White Raven List. James is a firm favourite within the festival circuit with his highly entertaining and engaging sessions and workshops in writing and illustrating.
