Tristan Bancks is an extremely successful children’s and teen Author, with a background in acting and filmmaking. As a teenager Tristan trained at
Sydney’s Q Theatre before landing a series-regular role in TV’s Home and Away before spending 4 years in London writing, researching and
presenting television for ITV, BBC, Channel Four and Cable.
Winning many literary awards, his books include Two Wolves, The Fall, the Tom Weekly series, and Mac Slater. His latest books are My Life and Other Failed Experiments (2018); a
sixth book of weird-funny-gross, semi-autobiographical short stories and The Fall (2017), a thriller novel for ages 10+. In 2019 Tristan
released his new book Detention, a gripping new novel about a daring escape and a lockdown in a school.
Tristan’s short films as writer and director have won a number of awards and have screened widely in festivals and on TV. He is currently working with
producers to develop several of his books for the screen.
Tristan is a writer-ambassador for Room to Read, and founded the Room to Read World Change Challenge in 2012.
Excited by the future of storytelling and inspiring others to create, he has been an extremely popular presenter at schools and festivals in Australia,
the US and UK for the past 10 years. Whitsunday Voices is very excited to have him at the 2020 festival to entertain and inspire the students of
the Mackay region.
