Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival attracts students and adults alike to experience and enjoy some of Australia’s biggest and brightest authors, illustrators, poets and performers.

There will be lots of story-telling and laughs as Oliver Phommavanh hosts the ever popular Writers' Panel on opening night.  Joining Oliver on stage will be one of Australia's leading and much-loved writers, John Marsden, highly-regarded young adult authors Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman, as well as journalist, television news producer and author, Megan Jacobson.
Winners of the popular Short Story Competition will be announced with prizes kindly donated by Friends of the Mackay Libraries.

Student Sessions

Thursday 14 July and Friday 15 July, 9.30am – 2.30pm at Whitsunday Anglican School, North Mackay.

Two days of student sessions, jam-packed with book talks, workshops, performances and more!  Don't miss this year's stellar line up of first-class authors, illustrators, poets and performers from around Australia.  All sessions are open to the public.

Short Story Competition

Students from Years 3 to 12 are invited to submit entries for the 2016 Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival Short Story Competition. Students are free to respond to a theme or topic of their choice and there is no limit to the number of entries allowed by each student. Thanks to our sponsor, Friends of Mackay Libraries, for their very generous cash prizes and assistance.
