Trevor Fourmile, from the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji people of Cairns, brings the vibrant traditions of his culture to life through storytelling, dance, cross-cultural language, and captivating books like Gurril Storm Bird and Bajirriga the Turtle. His Yidinji name, Bumi, meaning ‘lightning flash’, reflects the power and energy he brings to his presentations. As the Cultural Lead Officer at Hymba Yumba Independent School, Trevor inspires the next generation to embrace their heritage. A winner of the 2023 Educational Publishing Australia Award, Trevor encourages young people to connect with their culture while celebrating traditional stories.
