The Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival is an inclusive event for the wider Mackay-Isaac community, and that is thanks to the involvement of the Winchester Foundation.

The John & Beryl Neilsen Winchester Foundation was established in 2012 by Mrs. Beryl Neilsen, OAM with the specific aim of creating educational opportunities for rural children. In 2013, the foundation became involved with the Festival, and their partnership has had a tremendous impact ever since.

Over the past decade, Winchester Foundation's collaboration with Whitsunday Voices has benefited over 4,000 children in rural areas. These youngsters travel from far and wide to attend to explore the world of literature.

The Winchester Foundation's core motto is "Empowering Country Children Through Education." This guiding principle is at the heart of their involvement with the Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival.

The foundation's unwavering commitment to this mission has made a significant impact in the lives of these young readers, and their partnership with the Festival has helped to inspire and empower them to pursue their dreams through the power of literature.
