Kat Ilich is a Mackay-based author and teacher who shares meaningful stories with young readers through her books The Cat with No Tail and Razzle and the Music Band. Her storytelling explores identity, kindness and resilience through engaging characters and relatable experiences. Inspired by life as a parent and educator, she creates stories that help children feel seen, build confidence and embrace what makes them unique.
In her interactive session, Kat encourages students to scaffold their own creative solutions to complications embedded in both plot structure and mindful characterisation.
