Senior school students in grades 9 to 12 in Mackay are invited to enter the Whitsunday Voices's Poetry SLAM! Competition.
Hosted by the master wordsmith himself, Joel McKerrow! Individuals or teams of up to 4 can enter. The winning SLAM! Team receives trophies, a $400 CASH PRIZE POOL and the bragging rights!
Teams are required to participate in the workshop hosted by Joel, where he will present what is involved in writing and performing slam poetry. The students will collaborate with Joel to refine their poetry and rehearse to bring it to life for the Poetry SLAM! Competition performed at the Festival.

Judging: The judging panel will include three presenters
Judging Criteria: 50% performance and 50% content
